LOOK: Mon Tulfo recalls how Lani blocked Bongbong Marcos from meeting Pres. Duterte

Special Envoy to China Mon Tulfo revealed something in his column for the Manila Times how Taguig City 2nd District Representative Lani Cayetano blocked former senator Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. from seeing President Rodrigo Duterte after the 2016 elections.

According to Mon Tulfo, the former senator BongBong Marcos was supposed to see the President in a restaurant when he made his first state visit to China on October 2016.

However, Tulfo said Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife Lani were able to sit with President Duterte with the help of then Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go instead of Marcos.

“At the duck restaurant, where I was one of those seated at the presidential table, the chair that was supposed to be occupied by Bongbong Marcos was taken by Cayetano’s wife Lani, who didn’t give way when the latecomer Marcos arrived” Mon Tulfo said in his column for November 28 2019.

Tulfo also said that because the table had limited seats, Marcos chose not to join the table to avoid placing the chief executive in an ’embarrasing position’.

Tulfo shared the incident in China with Marcos and Cayetano’s following the criticisms received by Alan Peter Cayetano over the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) games.

He added that Bong Go “probably rues choosing Cayetano over Bongbong when he was caught between a rock and a hard place at the Chinese restaurant in Beijing.”
