One of Manila’s oldest Mall, Isetann faces possible closure due to lack of permit, -Mayor Isko Moreno

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said that he’s considering to close down one of the oldest shopping malls, Isetann in Recto because of lack of business permit.

During his interview on CNN Philippines, Mayor Isko Moreno said that he’s going to ask the management of the Isetann mall in Recto to explain why they’re operating without a proper documents.

“We just notified them to explain why the operators of the mall has no permit, they have to explain,” he said.

“Hindi namin papayagan dahil kung hindi kayo magtitino at hindi kayo makikiayon sa pamamalakad ng pamahalaang lungsod, hindi rin magtitino ang ating pamayanan,” Moreno said during his interview with Super Radyo dzBB.

The Manila City Mayor made the statement after he ordered to ban the trade of all second-hand mobile phones in Manila. According to Moreno, Isetann is one of the malls who are selling phones that allegedly came from illegal activities.

“The warning was made after a student reported to the MPD Special Mayor’s Reaction Team that he saw his mobile phone from one of the vendors inside Isetann Mall in Recto,” the Manila Public Information Office said on Twitter.

He also challenge the netizen who are saying that there is still no law or ordinance prohibiting the selling of second-hand phones.

“Eh di try us. Wala namang problema eh. Ibabalik ko rin naman doon yung Sec. 16 under the Local Government Code, the General Welfare Law. If we give you, a [permit] of business, we can take it away,” he said.
